The Murlocs
Five skinny kids with roots firmly placed in their own blown-out, distorted brand of soulful RnB. Formed in early 2011 by harp player Ambrose Kenny-Smith, The Murlocs have already played alongside Thee Oh Sees, Graveyard Train and Dave Graney.
Their up-tempo snare cracks and noisy doom guitar – accompanied by Ambrose’s vocal screech – has been described as a mesmerising demented dance party.
Grace Cummings
Powerfully voiced Australian folk artist, Grace Cummings, made a quick rise within Melbourne’s indie music scene, with her debut album, Refuge Cove, in late 2019. With her throaty vocals, acoustic guitar, and harmonica, Cummings conjures the sound of the early-’60s folk revival, singing with great command her poetic musings to a minimalist accompaniment that alternates between fevered strumming and delicate fingerpicking. Grace Cummings announces her sophomore album Storm Queen to be released on ATO Records on January 14, 2022.
